The CEO and background time creator in Your Executive Assistant.
I am married to Ernest, and we have what I affectionately call Team Testosterone. Adam (living his best life and engaged to be married to Kyler – the first daughter of our hearts), Joshua (our gentle giant, online gamer, into his 3rd year of university) and Caeleb (our teen, creative soul and justice warrior). It’s an adventure, that’s for sure.
I have a quirky (sometimes dark and off the wall) sense of humour, I’m a lover of shoes (although lover is such a weak word), good South African red wine, bespoke gin and dark orange or lime chocolate. I love to read, anything and just about everything and will more often or not have two or three books going at the same time.
Like you, I’m a business owner, juggling many different hats. Wife, mom (to Team T and fur babies), nurse, confidant, referee, negotiator, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, transport provider, chief cook, peacemaker, and those are just the tip of the iceberg in the crazy that is often my life.
And just like you, I realised one day that I needed to start living the life I’d always dreamed of. One where I had guilt-free time, one where I had space to breathe, one where I got to decide where I spent my energy and who I spent it on.
And so after serving as an Executive PA to C-suite executives in the corporate sector and the Headmistresses of 2 Private Schools in the education sector for more than 25 years, I stepped out of the clock-in, clock-out world.You see the tipping point came when the youngest member of Team Testosterone, then in Grade 6, came to my office to say that it was getting dark outside and could we please go home. It was a huge wake-up call. I was available to everyone else’s children, but not my own. I had time and energy for everyone else’s children, but not my own.
I knew I didn’t want to be a stay at home mom, nor did I want to be Ernest’s PA (that’s a story for another day). I wanted a life where I didn’t feel guilty about taking time out for me, for spending time with my family or for connecting with a girlfriend over coffee on a weekday.
I realised I had all these skills that I’d honed over my working career (and was happy to learn more) that I could use to help other women just like me create guilt-free time to start living the life of their dreams, enabling them to create precious moments with those they love most. And so YOUR EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT was born. And the rest as they say is history.
